The Importance of Good Sportsmanship

The Importance of Good Sportsmanship

Good sportsmanship is important for a number of reasons, such as

·         It helps you learn for your mistakes

·         It lets you have fun

·         It lets others have fun

·         It is choosing the right

Good sportsmanship is very important; it changes how people view you. Good sportsmanship means not caring too much about winning. It also means not getting mad when you lose. If someone gets mad it ruins the game for everyone. Good sportsmanship means being able to learn from your mistakes, it means being able to accept when you have done something wrong and being able to accept constructive criticism. It is important because it allows you to learn and further your skills; it also makes you a better person. It is also important because it is having a good attitude, and having a good attitude is important. Choosing good sportsmanship is choosing the right!

This quote means that education is what will help you accomplish what you need to accomplish. It is necessary to be successful. Knowledge is power and it has the power to help you realize your dreams. It will set you free and make you independent, so you won’t have to rely on others too much.

Student Responsibilities Part 1

Student Responsibilities

Students have the right to seize the responsibility for their own destiny and should ber encouraged to do so. With every right comes responsibility!

1.        I have responsibility to come to every class prepared to listen, to participate, and to learn.

2.        I have the responsibility to read the text carefully, noting important ideas and rephrasing concepts in my own words.

3.        I have the responsibility to work examples in the textbook and those given in class.

4.        I have the responsibility to consult other students, the teacher, an assistant, and other resources whenever I need the extra help.

5.        I have the responsibility to understand that the teacher is not primarily responsible for making me understand but that it is my job to study and to learn.

6.        I have the responsibility of keeping an open mind and trying to comprehend what the teacher is trying to get across.

Successful Students Part 2

Successful Students

Part 2

4. Successful students learn that a student and a teacher make a team. Most teachers want exactly what you want: they would like for you tom learn the material in their respective classes and earn a good grade

Successful students reflect well on the efforts of any teacher; if you have learned your material, the instructor takes some justifiable pride in teaching. Join forces with your instructor, they are not an enemy, you share the same interests, the same goals – in short, you’re teammates. Get to know your professor. You’re the most valuable players on the same team. Your jobs are to work together for mutual success. Neither wishes to chalk up a losing season. Be a team player!

5. Successful students don’t sit in the back. Successful students minimize classroom distractions that interfere with learning. Students want the best seat available for their entertainment dollars, but willingly seek the worst seat for their educational dollars. Students who sit in the back cannot possibly be their

Five Keys to Success

Five Keys to Success are:

1.     Be honest

2.     Be responsible

Successful Students Part 1

Successful Students

Part 1

Successful students exhibit a combination of successful attitudes and behaviors as well as intellectual capacity. Successful students

1.    Successful students are responsible and active. Successful students get involved in their studies, accept responsibility for their own education, and are active participants in it!

Responsibility means control. It’s the difference between leading and being led. Your own efforts control your grade, you earn the glory or deserve the blame, you make the choice. Active classroom participation improves grades without increasing study time. You can sit there, act bored, daydream, or sleep. Or, you can actively listen, think, question, and take notes like someone in charge of their learning experience. Either option costs one class period. However, the former method will require a large degree of additional work outside of class to achieve the same degree of learning the latter provides at one sitting. The choice is yours.

2.    Successful student’s educational goals. Successful student5s have alginate goals and  are motivated

Characteristics of a Successful Student

Characteristics of a Successful Student

Many students do not know what it takes to be successful in the educational environment. They understand good and bad grades in a general way, and they sense that they should attend classes, but that is where their knowledge begins and ends.

Most instructors know what a good student is – and is not. For one thing, a good student is not necessarily the most intelligent individual in class.

The following is a list of some characteristics of good students. This is a description of what a hard-working student does and what a teacher likes to

See. By learning these characteristics, you may better understand the day-to-day and class-to-class behavior of successful students. The idea is to provide you with guidelines you can follow which will help you get down to the business of becoming a serious, successful student.

1.        Successful students attend classes regularly. They are on time. They listen and train themselves to pay attention. If they miss a session, they feel obligated to let the instructor know why before class begins, if possible, and their excuses are legitimate and reasonable. They  make sure they get all missed assignments (by contacting the instructor or another student), and understand specifically what was covered in class. Successful students take responsibility for themselves and their actions

50 Habits of Successful People (44-47)

50 Habits of Successful People

(Habits 44-47)

44. They don’t rationalize failure. While many are talking about their age, their sore back, their lack of time, their poor genetics, their ‘bad luck’, their nasty boss and their lack of opportunities (all good reasons to fail), they are finding a way to succeed despite  all their challenges.

45. They have an off switch. They know how to relax, enjoy what they have in their life and to have fun.

46. Their career is not their identity, it’s their job. It’s not who they are, it’s what they do.

47. They are most interested in effective than they are in easy. While the majority look for the quickest easiest way (the shortcut), they look for the course of action which will produce the best results over the long term.

38. They are open to, and more likely to act upon, feedback.

39. They don’t hang out with toxic people.

40. They don’t invest time or emotional energy into things that they don’t have control of.

41. They are happy to swim against the tide, and do what most wont. They are not people pleasers and don’t need constant approval.

42. They are more comfortable with their own company than with most.

43. They set higher standards for themselves (a choice that we can all make), which in turn produces greater commitment, more momentum, a better work ethic and of course, better results.

31. They are secure. They do not derive their sense of worth of self-esteem what they look like.

32. They are generous and kind. They take pleasure in helping others achieve.

33. They are humble and they are happy to admit mistakes and apologize. They are confident in their ability, but not arrogant. They are happy to make others look good rather than seek their own personal glory.

34 .They are adaptable and embrace change, while the majority are creatures of comfort and habit.  They are comfortable with, and embrace, the new and the unfamiliar

35. They keep themselves in shape physically, not to be mistaken with training for the Olympics or being obsessed with their body. They understand the importance of being physically well. They are not all about looks, they are more concerned with function and health. Their body is not who they are, it’s where they live.

50 Habits of Successful People (21- 30)

50 Habits of Successful People

(Habits 21-30)

21. They don’t believe in, or wait for fate, destiny, chance or luck to determine or shape their future. They believe in, and are committed to actively and consciously creating their own best life.

22. While many people are reactive, they are proactive. They take action before they have to.

23. They are more effective than most at managing their emotions. They feel like we all do but they are not slaves to their emotions.

24. They are good communicators and they consciously work at it.

25. They have a plan for their life and they work methodically at turning that plan into a reality. Their life is not a clumsy series of unplanned events and outcomes.

26. Their desire to be exceptional means that they typically do things that most won’t. they become exceptional by choice. We’re all faced with life-shaping decisions that most won’t and don’t.

27. While many people are pleasure junkies and avoid pain and discomfort at all costs, successful people understand the value and benefits of working through the tough stuff that most would avoid.

28. They have identified their core values (what is important to them) and they do their best to live a life which is reflective of those values.

29. They have balance. While they may be financially successful, they know that the terms money and success are not interchangeable. They understand that people who are successful on a financial level only, are not successful at all. Unfortunately we live in a society that teaches that money equals success. Like many other things, money is a tool. It’s certainly not a bad thing but ultimately; it’s just another resource. Unfortunately, too many people worship it.

30. They understand the importance of discipline and self-control. They are strong. They are happy to take the road less traveled.

Personality

Keys to successful living

Part 4

(Anon)

What is personality? The word “Personality” comes from the root word persona, which means “mask.” Our personality is a mask that we wear. We don’t have to wear a mask when we are by ourselves; we wear a mask to express ourselves to others. Our personality is a character, and that character is composed of certain habits. Each of us has numerous habits; so when we want to understand our personality, we should understand our habit patterns. A habit pattern is a conscious thought or action that one repeats again and again. This creates a groove in the unconscious mind and forms an unconscious habit. All habit patterns are self-created. When we sit down and try to understand which of our habits control our life, we see that there are many deep-rooted habits within us.

We should understand our capacities and potentials, and then we should express ourselves in the external world with full confidence, acting steps without any reservations. Thus there are three in preforming an action; first formulating an opinion within ourselves; second, expressing ourselves to others; and third, executing our opinion in action

Understanding habit patterns

The main thing that one should learn I life—and it is not taught in the home or in the schools—is self-analysis. We should learn to analyze ourselves. If we really want to understand ourselves, we can analyze our personality by understanding our habit patterns. This is not difficult. We should simply try to be consciously aware of every action we perform and realize that our actions are virtually our thoughts. Without thought there can be no action. Habit patterns and thoughts are revealed
